BokmanLaw case recently named at the 2008 COPAA conference as one of the 40 best special education cases in the nation over the last 35 years.

Board of Education of Montgomery County, Maryland v. S.G. involved a 12 year-old girl who had schizophrenia but was denied special education services. Rob successfully won the due process hearing, as well as the subsequent appeals (with co-counsel) in the United States District Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. The case is significant because the Court rejected the school board's argument that the hearing officer must always defer to the school's experts and because the Court rejected the argument that schizophrenia is only a medical condition (like cancer); the Court found that S.G. was eligible for special education services.
